Meatball Kebabs
Makes 14 kebabs
Ingredients
675 g (11/2lb) lean minced beef
1.25 cm (1/2") root ginger, peeled
1 onion, roughly chopped
2 green chillies, seeded and chopped
5 ml (1tsp) mango chutney
30 ml (2tbsp) fresh coriander, chopped
2.5 ml (1/2tsp) poppy seeds
5 ml (1tsp) garam masala
5 ml (1tsp) chilli powder
5 ml (1tsp) ground cumin
MINTY YOGHURT DIP
300 ml (1/2pt) Greek style natural yogurt
1/2 cucumber, finely chopped
30 ml (2tbsp) fresh mint, finely chopped
5 ml (1tsp) ground cumin
Pinch cayenne pepper
Cooking Method

- Using a food processor, finely blend the ginger, onion and chillies until almost a paste. If processor is not available, chop very finely.
- Add the minced beef, chutney, coriander, poppy seeds and spices and combine together. Divide mixture into about 28 portions and form into balls.
- Thread 2 balls onto each skewer (if using wooden skewers soak in water prior to use to prevent them from burning).
- Place under preheated grill and cook for 12 – 15 minutes turning occasionally.
- For minty yogurt dip, combine all the ingredients and chill prior to serving.
Serving suggestions
Serve with a fruity rice salad (using strawberries, avocado and spring onions) and yogurt cucumber dip.
